“The sun will rise again, and so will we.” – Jennae Cecelia

Hi, I’m Brandy! Resident in Counseling and Educator based in Fredericksburg, Va! I have a Master’s of Education in Counseling & Human Development, and I’m here to help you unlearn harmful ideas and teach you how to live by your unique values.

My Story

Most people would write about their challenging past, the event that broke them free from that pain, and what inspired them to help others. I have one of those stories, but my purpose is to stand out and to be different, so I wont do that. My pain won’t be used to gain business or attention. I want to tell you the WHY instead.

Our society is built on racing to the top, being the best, following a certain timeline, doing things the “right” way. I’m not that. I don’t do things the “right ” way, I let my intuition guide me to the way that works for ME. I think outside the box, and I help people push back on societal norms, because that’s what keeps a lot of us trapped in cycles of shame, burnout, depression, anger, and hopelessness. So no, you don’t have to be perfect, you don’t have to live your life on a specific timeline, you’re allowed to be your beautiful and wonderful self, and you don’t have to be the best at anything. I’ll help you find your way based on what YOU believe, and what YOU love. I don’t play by societal rules, and if you’ve read this far, I bet you don’t either.

My Values & Beliefs

Everyone deserves to feel safe and valued

At my core, I believe in social justice. I am 100% Black Lives Matter, Queer & Trans people belong, no one is illegal on stolen land, Free Palestine, listen to Disabled people, and everything in between. In my mind, and my heart, I do not tolerate racism, fascism, ableism, eugenics of any kind, homophobia, transphobia, or anything that promotes hate or harm to a group of people. I value people for who they are.

Once you know better, you can do better

I have done a ton of work to check myself of my implicit biases, but I understand that that work is never finished. I am committed to learning and changing all the time. I don’t know what it feels like to be you, and I will never pretend to. I won’t ask you to teach me something that is my responsibility to learn. I will however, listen to you and your life experience to understand your unique perspective, and then meet you there. I’ll advocate and support you as much as possible.

Shame is the enemy of hope

Our society is built on shame. Shame is dark, shame is unsafe, shame is a prison. Once we can learn to let go of shame, we make room for hope. Hope is light, hope is promising, hope is freedom.

My Approach

For Therapy clients, my main modality is Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, but I also use Disability Affirming Therapy, Fandom Therapy, and Bibliotherapy when appropriate!

For workshops or speaking events, I use mixed media, interactive questioning, real life stories, and sometimes engaging activities to help facilitate meaningful learning.

For spiritual services, I use a mix of pendulum, tarot and research tools for a personalized approach.
